Maria Clarke is an Executive Director and Banker in the Washington, D.C. office of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. Maria advises some of the most prominent clients in the area, including affluent individuals, family offices, private equity partners, nonprofits and institutions.
Maria takes a holistic approach across the balance sheet—investments, credit, lending, and estate strategies to help navigate the complexities of financial decision-making. She focuses on pre and post-liquidity planning, tax mitigation, and portfolio construction and diversification. Her clients regard her as their personal advocate who always has their best interest in mind.
Maria invests herself in understanding each family’s financial scenario, coordinating the strengths of J.P. Morgan to help pursue their priorities and preserve their wealth while educating the next generation on the responsibilities to come.
Before joining J.P. Morgan, Maria spent two decades advising private equity and institutional clients.
Most recently, she was with Bank of America Private Bank and previously was a managing principal at ISG Advisers, a real estate investment advisory firm.
Maria brings a legacy of board service and philanthropy to the Washington D.C. community. She is past president and current advisory board member for the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech, board trustee for the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science and an advisory board member for the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Capital Area, previously serving as chair of the membership committee. Maria has served in other substantive boards and leadership roles including Inova Health System Foundation Board; Inova Health System Finance and Audit Committee and Investment Sub-Committees; National Symphony Orchestra; International Women’s Forum; Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Circle for the Northern Virginia Technology Council. She is a member of the CFA Institute; CFA Society of Washington DC and International Women’s Forum.
Maria earned her MBA in finance from the University of Miami and her BS in finance and corporate law from Florida State University. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Executive Program in International Finance and Global Markets. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
